Sukii Qi (Say Sukii) Floral Artist & Alchemist

artist statement:

I am a Miami-born floral artist of Jamaican heritage, working at the intersection of nature, ritual, and spatial design. My practice is rooted in alchemy — transforming flowers, textures, and living materials into portals for memory, healing, and self-return. Flowers are among the highest-frequency beings on earth; they lift energy, elevate vibration, and anchor us in presence. Through them, I create environments that invite people to feel seen, honored, and appreciated.

In collaboration with Lougé Delcy, Self Preservation expands into a living landscape. His portraits map the emotional terrain of survival — the tenderness, tension, and rebirth carried through the African diaspora. My installation grows from that same soil. Moss, grasses, and floral stems rise from floor and wall as if the booth itself is breathing, returning to earth. People are invited to take a flower — a symbolic act of tending to themselves and one another. Self-preservation extends beyond the self to our relationship with the land: Earth sustains us, and to honor her is to honor life. Self-love is self-respect, and self-respect is self-preservation.

This work is a reminder that preservation is not passive; it is an active practice of care. Flowers illuminate that choice by shifting the atmosphere itself — softening the nervous system, restoring attention, and calling people back into their own presence.

Together, Lougé and I offer a space where image and nature merge to affirm that growth, softness, and survival are all forms of power. Our collaboration is a living altar honoring what blooms when we preserve the light within ourselves, each other, and the Earth.
